I just bought a 2010 25 etec tiller for my 1998 14' alumacraft deep v fishing boat. I am looking for suggestions on SS props.  I have heard the 4 blade rogue is a great prop.  I am getting overly great holeshot and decent top end speed at 27 gps with stock aluminum.  I just want to get the best possible performance with this great motor!

I don't have a tach yet, so I can't tell you my rpm's at WOT.  Also, a suggestion on tach for this motor?

Was hoping someone had similar setup and could provide some help.

Boat is 1998 alumacraft lunker v14.  dry weight 500lbs.  trolling motor and TM battery weighs about 120 in the front.  Starting battery in back is 60 and I weigh 190 both in the back.

Just a reference so anyone with comparable set up can comment.

Evinrude has 7 stainless steel props for the 25/ 30 hp.

(corrected part numbers --  3-31-11)

765176, 3x10x11
765174, 4x10x11
765177, 3x10x12
765175, 4x10x12
765178, 3x10x13
765179, 3x10x14
765180, 3x10x15

Have your dealer look up the prices and availability. These were a late entry to the line up.

Hi mead, good work mate, but all props start with 765///, not 764///. If you order say a 764177 you will get a 2 inch I-Commad gauge. Just a typo I am sure mate.

Mead, is there anywhere I can look up those part numbers on the internet to get a description of what each one of those props are?  I am wondering if these are the props that the tech from evinrude was talking about?

Yeah Huey - your are right - fat fingers typo
all the prop star with 765XXX.

since these were late there is no internet listing.  All the props are a high luster polish. The 4 blades are well suited for boats that need a little sternlift and better hook up in turns. Guys that run heavier boat when duch hunting like the 4 blades. The 3 blades are great for improved hole shot and better top speed, besides the usual durability that comes with stainless steel.

Thank you,  I believe this is what I was looking for.  Now I need to get my tach installed, and get my hands on some of these to try.  Once I do, I will post my results to better aid others searching for similar setups.

i got an 25hp e-tec on a princecraft yukon. i hit a decent 30mph with 3 or 4 people on the boat,and close to 40mph when im alone on it. i still dont know the W.O.T. rpm,i will check that this summer.i have the 12 pitch alum prop that came with it.


i want to put a ss prop on it.


my question is: if my wot rpm is within the range for my prop.do i need a 12 pitch ss prop or should i go 1 pitch slower?

I bet you are HAPPY with that. They are one mean motor.

im happy for sure,but im always looking for more. i did lifted the motor 1/2inch and have lost paint on the alum prop by cavitation.the stainless one wont have this problem.

is it true i should go 1 pitch slower when switching to stainless prop?

Not necessarily but You will go quicker because of the cupping. Stainless Steel props are generally more efficient because of thinner blades as well & work better when motor is raised.  It is important to experiment with height & pitch. Load carrying capacity may be affected if the motor cannot reach its optimum RPM which is around 5400 to 5800. Higher the better.

I don't know if you have ever heard of power tech props but they are pretty awesome. My buddy got one on his tohatsu and got two more mph out of it. The price for a powertech is 285 plus shipping

anybody ever tried a new saturn ss prop?
they are not expensive but i dont know if its still more effective that regular aluminum props

I have the 765177 on my 1985 Johnson 25 - Weldbilt 15/48 boat.  What a step up in performance...  I couldn't believe it.  Had a stainless prop on it before, but someone had messed it up and put way too much cupping in it...The cup was sitting at almost 90 degrees at the leading edge... Highly recommended !
