I always flush with fresh water after use. How long will the anodes in the engine last and how many are there?

There is no definitive answer as to how long will anodes last.  Depends entirely upon galvanic activity of your vessel.  If moored for extended time, neighbors boats and possible stray currents from dock side power.

Anodes aren't doing anything when boat is not in water.  If you are concerned, you would need to hire a qualified person to perform a galvanic survey on your boat.
