Have decided to store my boat outdoors instead of in the garage this winter.  I winterized the engine but am wondering about the lower unit. I removed the prop and thrust washer, then greased the prop shaft. What I'm wondering is should I cover the lower unit with plastic to keep the snow away or should I leave it open? The rest of the boat is being shrink wrapped tomorrow, so maybe I should have the engine covered in shrink wrap too? What are your thoughts. We get over 4 feet of snow over the winter and temps can get down to negative 20F.

Drain and refill the lower unit. Leave it open/uncovered for ventilation.
