Hello all,
So I decided to disassemble my water pressure relief valve to make sure its operating correctly. I noticed my temperature didn't seem to drop much at higher rpms like most here have said is normal. I never had a high temp alarm but wanted to be proactive.

Everything appears to be ok but I was wondering while I have it apart what pieces would you recommend replacing if any at all. The spring ?

I usually don't replace parts unless something wrong, if the  temp don't go up at higher rpms  I would say it is working as it should, the idea of the PRV is to keep the temp from going up at higher rpms that is at optimum operating temperature, not to run cooler (I think)

Could be you are over cooling at lower RPM. At one stage I had thermos that were open all the time that did a similar thing.

Thanks for the replies. Thermostats were just changed. I'm gonna replace the o ring and diaphram in the prv and run it tomorrow. I will get back with better temp data but as long as it's not over heating I assume it's fine. I was just curious which wear items you would replace while it's open.

Check your out put from the water pump. Inadequate flow will prevent prv from opening at higher rpm. Winter water is cooler and may mask the issue.

I just did the waterpump a month ago. Also I live in the florida keys so not much cold water here. It is slightly cooler. I ran the boat yesterday and had not water temp issues.
