Hi Gents,

So I managed to put a considerable amount of fresh (rain) water through my fuel system. (Etec 90 2013) My local dealer is quoting me about 3000 ukp to fix it. 200 quid for a fuel pump (5009119), and 500 quid each for three injectors (5010221). Plus I am being told that there is about ten hours of work to instal and code the injectors.

To me it appears a simple instal job, but don't know anything about coding. Can anyone comment on the pricing&complexity of the job?

Thanks for any help

No such thing as a 2013 model so post complete model number. An AA does not use P/N 5010221 so not sure where that P/N came from. Those prices are way up there for the parts alone and no way it takes 10 hours to fit a new HP fuel pump and three injectors. If one is skilled, tops would be 2 hours. "Coding" an injector is a press of a button. Are you certain they are damaged because water is not good of course but fresh water is alot better than salt water so you may find a good clean of the injectors, at least, would be worthwhile and save a ton of money.

I had severe water in fuel this year. There was a small delay between me getting water in fuel to getting the engine to dealer. As a result I needed a fuel pump but no injectors. The dealer had a used fuel pump which saved me several hundred. Where in uk are you? Price difference between my two southern based dealers was considerable

Thanks, Serial number of the motor coming soon. I have good mechanical skills, but lack the equipment to check the injector.
I am based in southern Norway, and the local dealer is, less than helpful. If I can find the parts, i am happy to reinstall them, but have no idea how to code the injector. I suspect my tech savvy son could help if someone gave him an idea?

Contact and buy the parts from Joe at Barnacle Bill's and if you are computer savvy you can download the injector co-efficients if you replace them, that is of course assuming you have Ev diag.

Ok Chaps,

I believe that the serial number for the motor is ACN 097 370 100. Does that appear to be a correct number.

Can I ask what Ev drag is? And where I can get a copy?

Thanks for your help!!

I'm no expert but that doesn't look right to me - see mine below.  EV Diag is the Evinrude Diagnostic software which as Huey states can be obtained (along with the connection cable) from Barnacle Bill's.

Hi,
EvDiag is Evinrude Diagnostic Software which you can buy from Barnacle Bills this site's sponsor and owner. His contact details are the Header of every Category page on etecownersgroup. EvDiag bought from other than an Evinrude Dealer is Unlicenced / Pirated Software. To learn about EvDiag and what you'll need to use it, click on this link.
http://evinrude.diag-systems.com/EvDiagnostics_User_Manual.html?idh_topic170.htm
Be advised that because this Evinrude Diagnostic Software will allow you to change settings you need to know FIRST how to use it. Incorrect use may result in damage to your engine. Also it is best used in conjunction with the Genuine Evinrude Service and Repair Manual as many of the test in the Manual require the EvDiag. The Manual can also be bought from Barnacle Bills.
Re your Serial # I have no way of knowing if it's correct but your Model and Serial # is on the sticker on your swivel bracket and S/N is also on your engine. Ref attached photo.
Cheers

The injector install and "coding" (as you say), looks way high to me, but I'm no expert.  Have you gotten the EV Diag software and connection cable?  The Service Manual?  Both will save you a lot of "waiting time" (for the Dealer to look), possibly a lot of cash, and the ability to "see" what's going on inside your motor.  As GEB says in post #8 above - read the manual and know what you're doing first.

Knowing that something isn't quite right (through EV Diag) can help prevent a real disaster before it occurs.
