Control of the illumination of the ICON Pro RPM and Speedometer gauges is a complex system. The RPM gauge contains the settings.  In a new article I explain the rather complicated arrangement of menus and sub-menus that provide many options for control of the dial and LCD illumination, See

RICK--thank you for the kind words.

I wore out my fingers pushing the MENU, UP, and DN buttons on my ICON Pro RPM gauge trying to map and understand this menu structure. It is rather complex. Rather than losing track of this information that I sketched out on the back of an envelope, I like to write it down and put it on the web. That way I can find it again when I have forgotten all of it,  and I need to figure out how to get the gauge lighting to work again.

Let me start by saying that based on your forum I would consider you the foremost expert on icon controls and gauges. That being said maybe you can offer me some advice on a particular glitch I encounter with my gauges.
At the end of last season I repowered my boat with a new G1 225hp E225DPXABG and after reading the articles on your forum decidedly to go with all new icon pro gauges. I have a 3.5 inch tach and speedometer along with four 2 inch accessory gauges. (Fuel, Voltage, Trim and Temp). All gauges work fine about 99% of the time, however every so often one of the accessory gauges will do something weird while running. The dial will go from it's current position all the way to the left and then return back to its original reading. This all happens within about one second and may not happen again for several trips. I have had it happen on all accessory guages but only on one at a time. For instance it may happen on only the fuel gauge one day and then the temp on another day, voltage on different day and trim on another. It never occurs on the tach or speedometer. My dealer has tried replacing the tach since it controls all other gauges and both he and I have checked all the connections and cant find anything wrong. The engine and gauges have 35 hours on them and it has happened since day one. It's not an issue since they return to normal readings so quickly but I am curious to see if anyone else has come across this issue. Dealer says all complex electronics are a little glitchy but just seems odd how randomly it occurs and always at different times with different gauges. Below is a picture of my dash.
In case anyone is wondering the two digital gauges below the VHF which read 111 and 113 degrees are temperature gauges which allow me to monitor port and starboard cylinder head temperatures. I know that the icon pro gauges give you temp readings but they only display the higher of the two temp sensors located in the block. I like to make sure both sides of the engine are getting proper cooling. They normally read around 150 degrees but I had just started it up and the engine was still warming up.
