My tilt has the bouncy action going down. I've greased the Pistons, greased the front nipples, and tightened the tilt tube nut. Must still have air in this new rig. What kind of fluid is recommended? Current fluid looks like thick YooHoo chocolate drink. I've read transmission fluid will work. Can I mix fluid types?

Thanks,

Dexron III will work in the trim. That chocolate color usually means water in the oil.

Sheesh. It's a brand new boat/motor. How does that happen? Anyway, is there a drain refill procedure documented somewhere?

Have your dealer check it over before you attempt anything.

I must've been delirious when I checked it last night. It's a clear purple color. I got the bouncing to stop by tightening the tilt tube nut and greasing the Pistons, but the awful noise is still occurring. Is that symptomatic of air in the system or just new and needs some use?

Groaning or raspy type sound when moving can sometimes be the tilt cylinder eye bushing and pin being dry. Easiest way is to remove the upper pin, grease pin, bushings, and eye, then reinstall. In some cases you may have to do the same to the bottom pin. Use lots of grease everywhere on the pins and parts.
