Can somebody tell me what the threaded hole on the cylinder head of the I-3 motors is for ?
Have them on both of my 2005 models and had it on my former 2012 90hp as well .
DPL_SOR5113473 is one of my twins .
Why I am asking is I installed an digital aftermarket pressure gauge on both motors (where the brass plug is on the pic) and was wondering whether I can install a temp gauge as well - using may be this hole (2 o`clock from the plug cap)

Thanks - I had the 2012 model with NMEA .
I am curious about these threaded holes and what they are for .
The system temp sensor has a separate place .
The threaded hole I am talking about was on all my 90's unused .

it probably is a tooling boss used for machining the part to hold it to a fixture

E-TEC engines have various machined surfaces and threaded holes that are not explained in Evinrude training. Machining, moving on the assembly line, and mechanically "running in" the engine assembly are all possible uses.
