I am working currently on a 6m RIB which still has a Yamaha 60 2 stroke twin setup . These motors I am intending to replace with 2x ETEC90s .
For this I purchased recently a very reasonably priced 90 ETEC made back in 2005 with proven hours and good repair and maintenance history .
Only thing - the EMM was fried . The 10A fuse burned when switching on the ignition .
There is a company in Netherlands which advertise that they can repair ETEC EMMs .
So I gave it a try and sent my EMM 2 weeks ago over . Yesterday I got the message that the EMM is repaired and on the way back to me .
The cost is around 25% of a new EMM - so very reasonable .

It will still take a few month before I will be able to sea trial and to report back .
The company gives 6 month warranty on the repair .

Installed the EMM today and downloaded first an engine report . I had no clue about the history of this motor nor the temp/rpm profiles .
All profiles were in green range and engine hours bit more than 500 .
Had an active code 38 in the system . Found that replacing the oil pump and a new software fix this issue .
I fired up the motor on muffs and it started instantly .
Performed all dynamic tests - all good .
The best thing - went into monitor modus and NO active codes anymore !
With a winterization  I finished the test run - more than happy [smile]
Only thing the oil tank I will change - the top has a crack . The previous owner did not care but I will replace it .
Engine report attached .

Let us know how the twin 90s perform on the water.  RIBS are always fun with lots of HP
The 90 3 cyl E-TECs are torquey beasts, hang onto your hat and a grab rail
RIBs really need that E-TEC power TT for best ride.

Not going to have all the stink, smoke and noise of those Yammie carb'd 3 cyls, tough motors but not fun to be close to

Please post the EMM repair shop you sent yours into for the benefit of our EU members.
