Is the RX-3 propeller:

—a three-bladed propeller?

—able to fit only on these new G2 three-cylinder engines?

Corollary questions:

Is counter rotation available in the new G2 three-cylinder engines?

Can the new G2 three-cylinder engines use the standard REBEL, CYCLONE, and other V6 gearcase propellers?

RX3 is a 3 blade prop.

Not sure if it will fit other platform engines. Will be finding out when more information is given to us.

Counter rotation is yes. Not sure if all the I3's will have it as a option. Again we will be learning more in a few weeks.

Yes, the numeral 3 in the propeller name denotes the total number of blades, the same as the RX4 and its blade count. The props are available in left-hand rotation. The 14-1/2" diameter makes the RX3 too large to fit existing V4 diameter gearcases.

A  new hub kit is required for RX3, RX4, and G1 propellers with TBX hub because of propshaft differences.  New TBX Hub Kit - P/N 5010529. It is included in the box with the new RX3 and RX4 props.

The new thrust washer inside diameter and taper is different than the existing V4 thrust washers and contains a line-cutter feature to protect the prop shaft seals.

The new RX3 props for the 1.9L G2  3-cylinder are 14-1/2" in diameter and available in 13 to 23" pitch  and 17 to 23" pitch in left-hand rotation.  The diameter is too large for existing V4 gearcases and the exhaust tube is too small to fit V6 gearcases.

The RX4 props for the 1.9L G2  3-cylinder are 14" in diameter and available in 18 to 26" pitch in right-hand rotation only. In theory they can fit the existing V4 gearcases with the V4 TBX hub but may not perform well as they were designed for the greater torque of the G2  3-cylinder engine.

If installing an existing TBX hub propeller such as a V4 sized Raker, Rogue, SSP, or Aluminum,
thrust Washer P/N 128805 MUST be used on the 1.9L 3-cylinder outboards.  Existing V4 props may not be as efficient as the new RX3 which is designed for the increased torque of the new G2 engines.

The new RX3 props for the V6 G2 and G1 and earlier engines will replace the existing Rebel series and will need to use the appropriate TBX hubs for the motors on which they are installed.

If I understand SEAHORSE's information-packed reply, there will be TWO types of RX-3 propeller:

--ones that only fit the G2 1.9-liter

--ones that fit the V6 engines, G1 and G2

Is that correct?

I hope the RX-3 designers studied at the Mercury INERTIA school, as the INERTIA and INERTIA ECO seem like the best three-bladed propellers out there right now.

A corollary: if there will be new (as of yet not released) versions of the  RX-3 propeller that will replace the REBEL, what will be the maximum diameter of these new RX-3 REBEL-replacment propellers?

I think Mercury would disagree on terminology here.

Rx3 gets .2 MPG better than the Rx4 on my rig. I really like the prop, it seems to want to run a little lower in the water than the Rx4.

DC--yes, In my post two months ago I should have written ENERTIA and ENERTIA ECO. I guess Brunswick likes to make up new words for its products.

And one more thing, power tech prop technician told me their prop would fit with their hub kit but the part number for the prop is the same as the G2 150 hp, is the 115 the same shaft, spline, diameter? I just got a brand new 115 HP G2 going to put a RX3 prop on it and the power tech for a spare and different Pitch, thanks
