Thanks, Gavin!  I just "had to do something", and must be a bit of Dad that comes out on some rare times in me.  [wink]  He could look at a pile of scrap that anyone else would put to the trash, and make something wonderful.

I'm thinking a bit of a breeze, and probably some rain.  Not sure how much of either, but my pond is already full - a truly rare sight for August here!

No plans to evacuate, and my boat is still sitting in the front yard in the shade.  May move that away from the biggest tree that I have, just in case.  [biggrin]

Cheers,

Phil

Thanks, MoneyPit!

Hopefully, it will help some other person with this style of rigging grommet figure out "how to get there with anything else" that needs rigging into the cowling.

I've actually got round grommets 'on order' to go in through the side cowling, but figured that I'd 'give it a go' this afternoon.  Try to keep things as 'factory' as I could, and it seemed to work pretty well.

I like when people show or explain the fix to their problem (like you did) ...instead of leaving everyone hanging. I'm sure this will help somebody in the future.

Fingers crossed that it does.  Hopefully, a bit of 'payback' for the help that I've gotten on here.  [smile]

Next time put the rubber grommet in the freezer for a few hours before trying to drill it; that may improve the working of the drill.

Lubricate with a mix of icewater and cheap rubbing alcohol.

Sounds like a Great idea!  I'll admit to not having put much "rubber" on the drill press table.  Wood 85% - 90% and some sort of metal for the rest.
