Feels like deja vu as I had this with my G1 years back, but could someone with knowledge of the G2s confirm whether it's normal for them to drop slowly over the course of a few days.

G2 140, brand new, stored in upright position, over the course of a few days it slowly drops until the skeg is almost touching the ground. I used to put a brick under the skeg of the G1 until I eventually took it in and they replaced the tilt/trim unit.

Should I consider this normal behaviour for a G2 I3 or are they still shipping engines with bad tilt/trim units?

Check the manual release valve and make sure is is properly tight. The new Engine is is completely different trim system

Everything is tight. And yeah, being that it's a new system compared to the G1 is the main reason I ask, as I know it's an issue with G1s but perhaps within spec for G2s? Doubt it but just thought I'd query those in the know, as I couldn't see anything in the manual stating it's normal for the outboard to not maintain position in storage.

Hi dsyd. I have the G2 115 HO and mine stays where I put it so for yours to drop doesn't sound normal to me.

Not right, so try this trick, open MRV, operate the trim and tilt up and down a few times (of course it will not raise or lower) but as someone is still operating the trim, tightly close the MRV while the trim is operating.

It shouldn‘t drop but why do you store it upright? Not a great idea to do this for long period. Can the boat not get out of the water?

Apologies for the confusion, by upright I mean in vertical orientation, so tilted down. Over the course of a week or so it drops a few more inches until the skeg is on the concrete. I tried playing with the manual release valve the other day per the above although unfortunately it still drops. My G1 did the same thing until I had the tilt unit replaced, then it stayed put. I think this one might be a dealer job too.

Just to update this one, trim/tilt unit is now leaking a fair amount of oil. Given the issue presented from day one, it would appear the unit was a dud right out of the factory - hopefully just mine and not a whole batch of them have this issue.
