Last summer I had a stall on my motor, finally got it fixed with a new gas bulb and gas line.

When I got it running, I found that the gauges (Icon) would not show gas setting  or oil settings

and it wasn't showing it in the bus set up. I played with the connections, disconnected the battery, checked to make sure it ran at the proper voltage....

Had a hard time starting her until I replaced the gas line and bulb, but then this thing with the gauges happened.

could not get the bus to show either gas or oil...both are filled to top on a 2004 Boston Whaler Nantucket. Engine runs fine now, but the gauge issues remain.
I can run it to the dealer, but I'm hoping I can get this done with out all that...

any help would be greatly appreciated....private messages or public😉

(did a run on the software which showed no faults and everything looked fine)

Thanks in advance, Henry aka The Yiddil

Can you clarify what you mean by gas and oil "settings"?

HENRY--changing the fuel hose or the fuel primer bulb should not have any effect on the electronic instrumentation for your E-TEC engine using ICON gauges. There must be some other event that caused a change in the ICON gauges.

Please give more details about what ICON gauge or gauges you have, as the branding of ICON applies now to a range of devices.

Jim, I am assuming that one or more connections are either not working, became loose, or otherwise caused the bus not to show a set up for oil and gas.
I agree that mechanical issues could not cause this malfunction, especially not on any of the 4 gauges I have, one large and three small, dated 2010 on a 2009 motor...that's the best I can tell you about them although I have a pic of them on my center console...but I have no way to tell you a specific model number, or type other than that...I'll truly and find a pic as the boat and I are separated by more than 100 miles
I'm sure this pic won't help much Click image for larger version - Name: 10155454309047500.jpg, Views: 36, Size: 121.24 KB

ICommand gauges made by Lowrance for BRP.

attached is the owner's manual.

Need to setup the fuel and oil gauge screens, listed in the manual.  If that does not solve the problem, check the wiring to and sensors in the fuel and oil tanks.

Is the main 3.5" ICommand showing motor rpms?

Hi HENRY--based on what I can see in your boat pictures, the gauges you have are the I-Command gauges. They are not ICON gauges.

Here is a wild guess: maybe the I-Command gauges got reset to factory initial configuration. That may have caused some previously configured set-up of the gauges to disappear. Your gauges might have previously been configured to show an OIL TANK level or a FUEL TANK level, and  those settings have been wiped out or lost. You will have to add those display pages back into the gauges. It is a bit tedious to perform this procedure, but the procedure is explained in the owner's guide.

Here is a second guess: because you mention "system bus" perhaps you have some network data senders for OIL TANK level and FUEL TANK level that no longer are appearing on the diagnostic function that shows network devices. If that is correct, it probably means there is a hardware problem in the network wiring. Carefully check all the network backbone wiring, the T-connectors, and the drop cables associated with the tank level senders.

Also, I visited your home page and saw a number of great shots of your Boston Whaler. It is a great boat, and that E-TEC looks really nice on the transom.

Jim, thanks for sharing your knowledge, and thanks for the kind words about DasBoat. I've loved her since I got her, but the etec made her just so much better.

Jim when you suggest checking all that, can you tell how you would go about that step by step, still not finding the problem...there are 10 T connectors in the center console, not sure how to check those? Thinking that's where the issue may be, but I dont know which ones are for which function...thanks in advance for an in depth reply, about checking these and any where else, Henry aka The Yiddil

Just a follow up, got tired of looking for an issue in the command guages, having icons installed instead, getting some bucket items done as well, cause the bw has had no problems for 14 years:)so some preventatives are in order.

A quick update, problem was never the guages, neg pole had corrosion and the low voltage intermittently caused
The issue with the guages, add a faulty bus and wham, intermittent electrical problems...hardest things to find...but it's been found!
