The etec 30 outperforms the Yamaha 40 in a youtube series from some guys in Australia. The video I’m specifically speaking of has Yamaha, etec 40, suzuki 40, Yamaha 40 and etec 30. This motor is the little engine that could. Yamaha makes great motors for durability, but they don’t have low end torque.

The little ETEC is incredible in the torque and fuel economy numbers.  No 4 stroke can hang with it.

I now have over 500 hrs on my 30 etec, pushing an 1854 grumann, 600-700 lb loaded w me

Gotta tell ya, just an awesome motor, pushes me 26-30 mph, burns so little fuel I still can't believe it. still have 1/4 gal left of xd100 after that many hrs. starts on first key turn, winterizes itself, need I say more! best thing I ever did!
