hi, i am looking at possibly buying a 2005 etec 200 model e200dpxsoc xl with a bad leg.  it hit an object in the water and now the gears do not engage.  the water pump still runs.

i own a 1994 evinrude 200 xl ocean runner.  will the leg fit?  i see it listed online as fitting up to a 2011 model year, but i also see the etec came with a magnum leg originally.

if not, what years and style of leg can i use?  is there a recommended leg to look for?

last question.  is there any extra risk on this model of damage to drive shaft or spline from this kind of colission?  my understanding is typically not but i likely will not have time to drop leg and inspect the spline before purchasing.

No right area, only one 200HP made back in 2005. If by "leg" you mean gearbox, no the gearbox from the 1994 carby will not fit and is different to the M gearbox the 200HP 3.3L E-TEC left the factory with. I would look for a M2 gearbox if you want the best and plenty of info on here when going from the original Magnum gearbox to the M2.

As for damage to splines, I am guessing you mean crankshaft splines and impossible to answer without knowing how servere the collison was, also mounts can be damaged when the collison is a big one.
