Just my 2 cents worth, but here are some numbers to consider:

retail price of a 225 H.O.:  aprox. 17,500.00

retail price of a replacement powerhead for said 225 H.O.: 3,890.00

retail price of a gallon of XD-100:  49.34

Bottom line is this:  50 bucks a gallon is cheap insurance...no matter what oil setting you are running.

Hi all,

When discussing consumption etc of fuel and oil and refering to gallons is the gallon refered to a US liquid gallon @ 3.79 litre per unit? Please excuse my ignorance but here where I live we use the metric system and I do notice that there are various gallon / litre measurements including US liquid and dry (4.4l) as well as UK imperial gallon (4.6l).

I am a bit confused with this as I have seen 25L  being equalled to 6 gallons on occasions.

Thank you,

MJ

Hi there,

Maybe I should rather ask how many litres are there in a gallon of gas?

Thanks

MJ

I have a question....... I am NOT trying to save money,But I had purchased several gallons of Mecury Premium Plus oil.. It states it's a TC-W3 and TC-WII quality.. on the container. For my 200 Evinrude nonEtec..

Is it OK for me to run this in my 25Etec set at XD 100 setting?

Or is it possible to reset the EMM to XD 50 and run it?

Most likely I have a lifetime supply :-(

Merc Premium PLUS is a good oil, do not confuse it with the lesser quality Merc Premium oil.

You CANNOT use it with the reduced oil XD-100 oil setting.

Have your dealer reset your motor to the regular TC-W3 setting ( there is no XD-50 setting )

You may notice hard carbon deposits due to the metallic elements in the Merc oil.

5 pages is more than enough -please start a new thread in the PARTS and SERVICE FORUM if anyone wants to ask more oil questions
