Hello all,
Coming back from a fishing trip, all of sudden my 3 year old ICon Pro gauges just stopped working on my Grady.  I checked the connections, everything is tight.  When I turn on the key, the RPM needle goes from 0 to 7 and the LCD flashes Evinrude but then goes blank.  Speedometer is starts moving then sticks at some random point LCD is blank on that one as well.  Engine will start and runs fine but I do get a single beep every 30 seconds or so.  I called my dealer and I'm about to take it in but I figured I'd ask the forum to see if its something simple.

I should mention that 3 weeks ago I did have to change out the control wire running from the gauges to the transom hub and the hub.  When doing some repair work to transom I had to disconnect and remove the hub.  Turns out that one of the pins on the control wire broke.  Gauges were functioning properly for 3 weeks then out.

Any thoughts or ideas appreciated.

Thanks in advance,

Jim

Those "pins" now have me "suspicious".  If one was broken, could there be another one that was 'weakened' during the repair?  Now maybe failed due the right (or wrong) wave or bump?

EDIT:  Could be time for some easy Wiggle Tests, and see if anything changes.

Sorry for more questions than answers, but that's where I'd start looking.

Phil

as usual, pilot error.  When I re-rigged the engine I wired up the gauges incorrectly - I somehow managed to hard wire the gauges to the #2 battery, rather embarrassing mistake I might add.  So I was running on #1 and draining #2.  When the battery got to low the gauges went out.  [redface][redface][redface]

There are I-Command gauges and there are ICON Pro series gauges, but there are no “I-Command Pro” gauges.

A good approach to discovery of the cause of sudden onset problems: post hoc ergo propter hoc.
