I once had a run in with a pile of rocks and had to get a new skeg welded on. As you can imagine the new skeg was perfectly straight. However I never noticed any differance in steering torque.

I tried raising my jack plate while the boat was trimmed out and trying to steer to port , this had no effect. The only thing that works is to reduce throttle, Any more thoughts?

Compare curve of skeg to new motor, tracing can work.

What helm?  Hopefully not one of the weaker lower volume output Seastars.
Seastars are know to be light in the kohonees.
Reason that BRP had to go with the DPS much higher steering torque due to the massive hole shot and midrange>WOT torque steer.

What you want.
SEASTAR PROFRONTHH57722.439.31500103

2.4 ci output at 1500 psi.

What I run on my heavy used to be hard steering WA.

Jacking plate height and trim angle will need to be experimented with on any hull to get neutral steering. What works on one hill will be different to the next hull and boats always are easier to turn to STB due to the direction the prop turns, clockwise for a standard rotation gear case.
