Will  a Furuno TZ Touch 2 show the engine gauges for a 2005 Evinrude  225 hooked up with  NEMA 2000? With all the help I've been getting from this forum I know someone will know the answer. I'm asking because the gauges work with the Simrad IS35. I have a Furuno and the fuel usage shows up but I'm not sure I'm getting the RPM's to show up right. I appreciate everyone's help.

I see RPM, Temp and Oil Pressure with a quick search.  Sounds like they're somehow reading a 4 stroke with the Oil Pressure?

They don't talk about NMEA 2000 capability at all, and that's where I'd expect all the 'accurate' data to come from as far as the engine.

Thanks guys this is great. But by looking at the list I don't see RPM's is that correct that RPM's don't show up?

No, your deduction is not correct.

Your expectations that there is a dedicated PGN only for engine speed is incorrect.

A list of PGN numbers is not especially useful unless you have the defined data that is sent.

See

http://continuouswave.com/whaler/reference/PGN.html

And also see

http://continuouswave.com/whaler/reference/NMEA2000.html

Read the section under the heading ENGINE DATA.

Also, none of this is related in any way to NEMA. The NEMA organization is not involved.

The protocol you are asking about is a standard from NMEA, a completely different organization than NEMA.

jimh, My mistake I guess I've been talking about NMEA all along.

Phil that's correct it shows RPM, oil pressure, temp. I can remove the oil pressure from the screen.

I assume it's hooked up right because I remember it showing the fuel usage. When I was setting up my Simrad IS35 I remember everything was working but I don't remember The Furuno showing any engine data other than fuel consumption.  I'll go back and check it again in the next few days. Is there anyway to see which PGN's are showing up. Do you need to turn on the PGN's or do they show up automatically when it's connected. Again thanks for everyone's.

Pretty sure it'll all be in your Furuno set-up instructions.  What do you want to see?  RPM's are there on the NMEA 2K network, so your gauge will have them available if you set it up to show.

I watched a video that showed the TZ Touch2 setup screens by "swiping", but I'm over 50 and don't even carry a phone around.  Can't help too much with "specifics" there.  [frown]

EDIT:  I wasn't clear about the PGN's  - they are "sent" automatically, so to speak.  It's all in the gauge setup to "read" them.
