Just had my boat out and have noticed that the trim will go up but not down would this be a faulty trim delay? Once I was on the water I was on WOT and only getting 5050 rpm which seemed not right it’s the first time out after a full service any thoughts of what could be the issues before I get charged a fortune to have someone look at it.

1) trim not going down could be a relay issue.

2) To test WOT RPM you should be trimmed correctly. Are you able to trim the motor while running WOT?

Yes once on the lake trim was working fine so had it on WOT and was playing with trim and the highest rpm I could achieve was 5100

Almost sounds like you've lost a cylinder, check if all the spark plugs got reconnected.

Check that the exhaust valve is working correctly. Known issue on V4s that loose top end performance.

I’m not that mechanically minded so i will send to dealer for them to look at and let them know everyone’s thoughts. Thanks.

Took the boat to the Evinrude dealer they put it on the computer at tested the exhaust valve and said it was all working fine had the boat out again and got only 5300 WOT the dealer seems to think this is acceptable but from what I’m reading it isn’t? I’m running a viper 14 3/4 17 would it be worth changing prop?
