Howdy Folks.  I am a new Etec owner and pretty excited.  My new to me outboard was on its side for about a week or two as it was transported to my house.

I am looking through the Service Manual for 40,50,60 hp (p/N 5006570).   And I cant figure out how to re-prime the oil resevoir since its a tiller model.

I would appreciate any advice or pointers for a new guy like myself.

2006 model. You should be able to use method for remote models with tiller handle.  You may need to advance throttle-link manually at cam follower (roller) to achieve 1/2 throttle in neutral.
Check 'Storage" in the service manual.

If you have manual start engine, power need to be supplied to EMM. Do a search here to find out how. Discussed many times.

Nordmann has given the best advice to run the winterization/storage procedure.
Since the oil pump is in the tank the pump does not need to be primed. If the oil lines still have oil in them running the engine will bleed any air out of the lines. It would be safe to run the first few gallons of fuel at a 100:1 pre mix. The oil lines can be removed from the manifold by depressing the black retaining ring and pulling the line up. Then a syringe can be used to fill the oil lines.

Or get the E. Diagnostics software package and motor>computer interface cable from Joe at BBs top of page.  He keeps our electricity turned on for the forum servers.

There is an oil priming function in the program that is easy to use and test the oiling system from oil tank to individual oil feed lines for no oil codes, oil and not good air bubbles.

The program is extremely handy in doing your own E-TEC service work when the shops are overloaded 2 months backup in the busy season.
All the errors codes, multiple tests and functions.

Hi,
Further to good advice already posted.
If you don’t have the Operators Guide /Owners Manual you can view here (as PDF)

Refer P58 /59 (of the PDF) “Winterizing Tiller Model”

Yes place your order by phone. Have your engine model and serial numbers to hand when you ring to ensure you get correct parts.
