One of my engines (have twins) is running cool under about 1500 rpm.
Info is:
E225DHLSDF: 5135304

It starts out ok, and will warm up same as the other motor to regular operating temp. If I get up on plane and run at cruise speed, temp is fine @ 150. If I drop down and run under 1500 rpms, temp will drop down to @ 95-100 degrees. The other engine will be at @ 165-175 at that rpm.

This will continue all day - run at cruise, temps are fine. Drop down under 1500, and temp goes back down around 100.

I had put in new T-Stats at the beginning of season, but this didn't start happening right away. Is this simply the t-stats aren't closing, & I need to figure out why, or can it be related somehow to the Pressure Relief Valve?

Clamp off the prv hoses and see if your temps come up.

++ to Olypopper!  Sounds like your PRV opens at higher speeds like it should, but then may stick 'open' - too much cooling flow then, and by-passing the thermo's.

Thanks, guys.  I ordered those clamps to arrive tomorrow & will give it a try.  Should I clamp the T-stat to valve, or the valve to head hoses, or does it matter?

I had exactly the same problem. Ran cool at low speed but fine on plane. The pee hole was stopped up. Seems it should have run hotter but it actually ran cooler

Interesting - did you back flush it?

I tested w/ the clamps & it ran normal. Opened up the prv, and there were a couple small chunks of plastic in there that must have been from when I had to chisel out the t-stat cap - despite being careful & vacuuming out after. Apparently, just enough to prevent the prv from properly seating. Cleaned it out, & ran fine, normal temps, in the test tank. Should be good to go.

Thanks, as always, for the advice.
