Model: E25DTELINA
Serial: 05334957

Hello!

I have a 2012 e-tec 25hp 2-stroke that has no spark.

I own/operate a cycle/atv repair shop. I have no delusions that in no way does that qualify me to be an outboard technician. However, I thought my skillset with atvs and motorcycles would provide enough mojo for me to repair my outboard.

I went ahead and bought the evinrude software right off the bat. After hooking it up and running diagnostics, I get no errors. It shows me all my engine information, it's history, etc. I'm connecting fine and downloading data fine. It just shows everything to be fine. When I run a fire test from the software, the plugs fire no problem. It's only when cranking the engine I get nothing. I assume the coils, cdi, etc are fine then.

I understand this probably isn't a simple fix that someone could diagnose by my brief description, but would anyone have any direction they could point me in?

Thank you in advance.

When you crank the engine do you get an RPM reading?  If you do not get an RPM take a look at the CPS and associated wiring.  Ive had several cases where the wiring leading to the CPS has gotten damaged.

The kill switch can prevent spark on tiller models but EV 5 won't connect if the kill switch clamp isn't attached.

I have the service manual. It tells me to test the resistance of the cps first. It's in normal range. It also tells me to ensure the cps light on the emm is lit while cranking indicating its receiving a signal. It is lit and all shows fine. Gap between cps and flywheel is withing range as well.

It shows 0rpm (the 0 is green, which makes me think it sees something) while cranking the engine in the diagnostic software, it actually disconnects from the software after a few more seconds.

Think it's the cps?

Is the engine showing to be in neutral when connected to Evinrude Diagnostics?  If 0 is the shown value while cranking, something is wrong as it should be reporting flywheel rpm on the Monitor page.
