Dropped boat at dealer on 9 July, today 11 July the BRP field rep checked out the engine and determined #4 cylinders fuel injector was faulty. Test ran boat with BRP rep and the engine ran well, actually better than it had since new at lower speeds, the vibrations the engine had in the 800-900 RPM range and to a lesser extent in some other pre planning speeds are gone. The engine was able to reach 5750 RPM/46 MPH with myself, BRP rep, dealer technician, and half fuel load.

Since replacing the ECM the engine has consumed 37 gallons of gas and 110 oz. of XD100. This is negatively impacted by two sets of compression test (with at least a couple of repeats) and few more starts than normal. BRP has told me that each cylinders compression test and each engine start cycle signals the oil pump to inject 3 oz of oil (at $45/gallon for XD100 thats a little over a $1 for each start).

I've refilled the oil tank to the bottom of the fill neck and reset trip "A" to track oil usage on my next trip.

The engine is running well, oil consumption remains to be determined.

Old old thread I know, but Whaler6, did you ever get the issue resolved? What you described in the thread is exactly what I am currently battling, except the dealer confirmed all cylinders are firing as they should. With my 250, Fuel consumption is around 2.5mph for me. I keep in around 3500rpm or less and am unable to get more than 5krpm. Engine shutters a bit when first accelerating to get on plane. Oil consumption seems high too. Gone through 3 gallons of XD-100 during the summer.

J-Bar  "Old old thread I know" also suggests that you know not to post on a 7+ year old thread.  You could either try a PM to Whaler6, or start your own new thread in the appropriate category - with Model and Serial numbers.

Not bashing, but the Forum rules are what they are.  [wink]

+1 to what Phil said and never seen fuel consumption quoted as 2.5mph and I do not know what 5krpm means. If you did 100 hours over summer that is good oil consumption, if you did 10 hours not good. If you are wanting help you are goign to have to get accurate information to us.
