Thank you Steelhead.  I ordered a repair package off of Ebay that included 4 magnets and epoxy.  Pulled my flywheel yesterday and I have all but three magnets(15). Guess with two of each polarity in the kit I should be ok.  He also sells extra magnets for $20 each.  Looking forward to getting that repair complete.  I have the engine apart for flywheel removal so can't check #1 light till reinstall. I feel good though to be moving forward, I had just about given up on the engine.  Will report back on SAC...

Steelhead, Huey

Thanks again for all your advice and help.  I rebuilt my flywheel and reinstalled.  Installed brand new spark plugs(QC10PEPB) and drained any old fuel out and replaced with fresh non ethanol.  The engine turns over very nicely but no firing at all.  The #1 light is on both key on and cranking.  I have not checked the capacitor but that will be my next step.  It looks like I need to pull the J1 connector and test the appropriate terminals?  I previously tested the stator and it had no shorts.

Last summer right before this happened, I had several instances where the engine would not fire immediately like it normally does. It would take maybe 30 seconds of key on before the engine would fire.  I wonder now if that could have been the capacitor going bad and requiring more time to charge before the engine would start.  Any thoughts?

Best,
Chris

The capacitor and the flywheel were the main culprits.  Or mainly the capacitor for non starting condition, it was toast!  Tons of corrosion on the positive terminal and lots of goo for lack of a better term in the bottom of the rubber surround.  Maybe leaking chemicals from capacitor?

Runs excellent now.

Much appreciate all the advice.

Chris
