Please help.
I have a 2009 250 HO with two issues.
1. There is oil leaking down the port side of the motor (looks gold/brown in color so I'm assuming it is XD-100) under the shroud and side panel and you see it emerge just above the lower unit. I can not tell where it is coming from.
2. I have had a "Warning!!! Check Engine" code three times now in the last few hours of the motor that limited the RPM's but resets fine when you turn key off and back on. It is NOT the overheat warning that I get around 185 degrees or so. Odd thing is this warning seemed to happen all 3 times around an engine temp of 176 degrees and RPM around 5000-5500.
This engine has some overheating issues and has a Bobs low water pickup on the lower unit.
I dont know if both these issues are related. The computer print out states "excessive knock in cylinder 4 or 6" for the events but does not say why I got the warning.
Thanks and I appreciate any help. |

Take it to a dealer to be checked out by hooking up to a laptop first. From your descriptions, you have either 3 or 4 different problems that need immediate attention.

Hi, +1 to what SH said, you seem to have a few issues and having overheat issues is not good for any engine so that would be my priority to get sorted. Before you put the low water pick-ups on was it overheating?
Also Kenny, you never did get back to us with a serial number from last year-do you have that yet?
Cheers,
Huey. |
