| I have purchased a 2009 leftover 225 hp Evinrude engine and had it installwdby an Evinrude dealer. Engine is great however the throttle shifter control is not. The shifting from neutral to foward or reverse is effortless. when I go toadvance the throttle there is a rather large movement before the actual speed starts increasing. I could learn to live with that dead zone if I must ,but I would like it to require less lravel before the throttle starts to respond. Can this be adjusted? The more important question concerns the amount of force required to advance the engine speed. Right now the engine goes from 500 RPM's to 900 RPM's only when excessive force is applied. If I try to back it off a little, I must again go through a dead zone where the throttle lever moves but nothing happen to the speed. When it does respond to increased force it generally goes back to 500 RPM's. I have heard through talking to other owners that there is an adjustment on the binnicle. This adjusting screw does essentially nothing for problem. The driver of the town's patrol boat says that there is an adjustment at the engine end of the cabled that should correct this problem. Is this true? How is the adjustment made and why is it so difficult to get the installer of the engine to acknowledge these adjustments and do them. As IT stands now this is the worst set of controls I have had to deal with Worse than YAHAMA or MERCURY. Need help! Paul

Name is Travis Just bought a 22' center console with a '07 Etec 250 on the back. Very happy with the motor so far. Only issue is a little corrosion on the foot, nothing a little touch up won't.

Paul, welcome, but this is definitly the wrong place for your problems, its only for introduction.
in short words - your control cables seem to have too many curves and maybe are the cheep ones. Change them to the more expensive and high-quality BRP HE cables and try to avoid narrow corners. Further questions/discussion about this issue pleas ein the right place/thread/subforum. __________________ kind Regards

| greetings! just sold my princecraft with a 150 optimax and picked up a beauty smokercraft that's in pristine condition. the owner swapped out the 135 opti for a 150 etec.
i have to say, this motor is very impressive. much smoother and refined-sounding than my opti. i took it out for the first time tonight and i think i made a good decision on this purchase.
look forward to putting this motor to the test of fishing and water sports. |

| Hello...Brad from King, Ontario, Canada. Cottage outside Haliburton, just South of the World known Algonquin Park. ...bought a brand new Canadian made Grew with a 60 HP Etec last year. Excellent boat and a really nice engine. Original package from the dealer was with a 50 HP opti..I was afraid the 16.7' boat would be under powered so opted to go to the Etec..very glad I did. Quiet and has gusto. Flat out it runs at 54 kph, pulls a large tube and skiers. We get temperatures from 35 C to -30C. Stored the boat in my unheated garage last winter. Took the boat out after not running for 6 months, started in 1 second. I have owned on old 1956 18HP Johnson, and a 1982 40HP Mercury. Although they were both 'tanks' they had many disadvantages, the most obvious being the economy of the engines. During the summer time here, we use the boat a lot...In 2 short summers I have over 150 hours on the Etec...and have only spent $200.00 in fuel. We really only use the boat in July and August, with little use in the spring and fall. It is very economical, enviro friendly, and quiet. Happy to have it except for the fact I am unable to support the local marina with it as he is NOT Etec qualified. I have to trailer it 1 hour away to Haliburton. __________________ Boating on Little Straggle lake, Haliburton |
