Hi’was wondering if anyone could help out. Have a fairly new 90 hp. Always started right up never any problems. Hade 3 year service done about 10 weeks ago dealer said everything good. Took it out about 8 times, fine .then took it out one morning came back for lunch tried to start one hour later and won’t start, cranks but won’t start.after checking wires for loose connection for about an hour it starts. Leave it overnight and try next morning won’t start again, playing and cranking for an hour and it starts, runs perfec.so I dropped it off at dealership he say it starts every time. What could it be any ideas?90dslafa 5416256.TIA dealer saying not showing any codes, little over 100 hours

My guess would be go back to basics. Test battery, check battery terminal connections, check battery isolator etc. Maybe air getting into fuel lines and fuel draining back into tank?

Thanks for suggestion , mentioned to mechanic about battery/ terminals, he doesn’t think so . Now he’s saying something about vapor lock?

Vapor lock hasn’t been a problem with inline ETEC engines. Vapor lock doesn’t usually happen first thing in the morning. It will normally show up in the heat of the day with a hot engine. Basics first before guessing. Fuel pressure should be checked as well as plug indexing.

Thanks, I told etec mechanic first time it was hot, second time( next day) was cold I will definitely bring what you said up to him, he says he started it 50 times and it starts immediately every time. I’m just worried it will happen again when I’m out there

did the shop inspect all the wiring …..ie:   open critical connection points, inspect and re-click them back in

did the shop actually do  a sea trial  or  just a nice comfy  shop test

it seems to be  an obvious " intermittent issue"  and shop starts   is not shaking the engine much like  choppy water would to loosen things up  and leave you  out like a sitting duck   next time out  take a video and show him what it feels  like [frown]

He said he checked wires connections, no sea trials. I took boat back last week, had it out 3 times, ran perfect, starting 15-20 times each trip. Hopefully by him checking wires fixed problem? Good idea videoing if it happens again, tks
