E50DSLSC After ten years I want to Re-Power to 60HP
18' Panga Marine Skiff Rated for 75HP
Just don't want to add 80lbs more with the 75/60HO
Currently 50HP prop
13 7/8x15 turns 5500-5600WOT
Original prop
13 7/8x17 turns 5300-5400WOT
It has been stated that the 2.9/1 gear is a big improvement on 50-60HP
I would like to find my current gear ratio as a way to better understand my prop stats

2.67:1 is your old 50HP gear ratio. On a boat like yours if you want the most suitable prop shout yourself a new SST Rogue prop too.

Thanks for the quick information. So the new 2.9:1 should turn my 17 at normal 5500-6000 and increase my speed a bit! Thanks again!

Yes in my experience the newer I-2 with this different gear ratios can turn higher pitch props and if you went to a high performance prop like the Rogue and not rig the engine too low, they can handle higher mounting than an alloy prop, you will improve all round.

Considering the SST Rogue on New 60HP 2.9:1
Current prop on 50HP 2.:67:1 is viper 3blade
13 7/8x15(originally17p)
The Rogue is 4 blade so do I choose same diameter 17p or stay with same diameter 15p since I will be turning an extra blade.
Your openion and or method of calculation appreciated.

If a certain pitch (diameter is not what we mean when talking props) Viper can turn good WOT RPM, then the same pitch Rogue is what you would try. Do not be afraid to rig as high as you can go with the Rogue too.
